Publish the partygate report in full as soon as possible

Boris Johnson | Daniel Leal-Olivas/Reuters/AlamyTo: Boris Johnson, prime minister, and Steve Barclay, minister for the Cabinet Office

We, the undersigned, call on you to publish in full and as soon as possible the findings of the inquiry by Sue Gray into breaches of lockdown regulations by the prime minister and others. We also demand that all evidence and relevant interviews relating to the inquiry by this Cabinet Office civil servant are published in full. The prime minister, the chancellor and others have been fined by the police over breaking lockdown rules so we know there were breaches - and we deserve to know the full truth about them.

The final say on the release of this internal inquiry lies with the Cabinet Office and the prime minister, which is why we are holding the two of you to account. In a democracy, the government serves the people and is accountable to us.

The Cabinet Office has a long record of secrecy and delay, as shown by openDemocracy’s long battles over its interference in the working of Freedom of Information. We will not stand for further delay or obfuscation, and urge the UK government to commit to full transparency on this matter. It is the only way to restore public trust in our politics.

Publish all the evidence. And do so as soon as possible.
